JAMES BEST, vintage TV actor

Just another reason to watch reruns on TV...  Whenever I spot a good looking guy in old movies and TV shows, I like to look them up to learn and see more about them.  JAMES BEST is a good example; a familiar, handsome hottie but I never knew his name.

You might remember him from Twilight Zone, victim of mistaken death in The Last Rites of Jeff Myrtlebank, 1962.

Later from 1979-1985 he stared in THE DUKES OF HAZZARD, a show I never watched.  He was older, had gained weight, but he still had a great face.

RIP, COLE RYDER

Ugh!  Who knows?  Maybe if I had the chance to actually meet him, I'd change my mind.  (That's happened to me.)  But at the time, I had it bad for Cole Ryder.  To me, he was exactly the type of guy I wanted to know, and maybe if I was really lucky, I'd actually develop a relationship with someone like him.  He was my fantasy template of someone I'd never know, but I think we all do that when we're younger and alone.

I always knew I'd never meet him in person, but he gave me something to hope for.  I kept hoping I'd meet some fantasy man who checked all the right boxes.  Someone who seemed to be centered with rugged good looks and a down to earth personality.  That's how I perceived him to be.

Anytime I'd see his photos or a video with him, I'd have to stop and watch.  I never got tired of him.  Because he was younger than me, he was someone I always expected to be around.  But suddenly in 2008 the headline pops up, COLE RYDER... DEAD...

I was stunned, crushed.  It took a few months for it to really sink in that he was gone.  I always hoped that career would skyrocket, and I'd say he was almost there.  But he never quite made it to legendary status like so many of the COLT men, those men who are so popular that everyone knows their name.  Maybe if he lived longer, he would have.

So here it is 17 years later, and here I am still rambling on about him.  And I can't believe it's been 17 years.  Somewhere today his photo popped up, and it's because of that I feel the need to post some more of his pictures.  At least he died in his sleep, not from drugs, not from suicide, and not from a long drawn out illness.  RIP

Cole Ryder Remembered

Friends and coworkers described the gay performer who died Wednesday as ‘warm,' ‘genuine' and ‘a big teddy bear.'

OK, the answer is.... JAMES CAAN!

JAMES CAAN!

Thanks ANONYMOUS for posting the answer!

i feel so stupid!  I was a real fan, yet I didn't recognize him from this picture.  His son Scott is pretty hot too...

But James Caan made me drool in THE GODFATHER:

...and from that time on, he always caught my eye.  He was just a rugged, masculine man, may he rest in peace.
